“What do you want to do when you grow up?”
As a kid, I remember daydreaming about this question. My ideal dream was just that – a dream. I mean there’s only ONE Steven Spielberg in the world, right? To ever land a job like that seemed as unlikely as winning the lottery. Yep, Spielberg had my dream job. He took the stories and fascinations of his world and turned them into a reality that others could enter into and experience again and again, no matter who they were.
Yet my own imagination was, and is, in no way lacking. Growing up I would daily transform the drab world of my living room and kitchen into an elaborate racetrack, complete with dirt roads and mountains. I find that same sense of imagination in my life today – seeing the ordinary things around me and turning them into something extraordinary.
My whole purpose as a videographer comes down to this. I want to give people an experience in a new reality so that they can return to their lives with a new perspective. I want to open viewers’ eyes to see the world in a new light. To see a new reality within their own. This shift in perspective happens all around us. Like the moment you first told your fiancé you loved her. Or the moment you found out you were going to be a dad. Whatever those moments are in your life, you remember them. They change who you are and how you view the world from that point on.
My dream is for my work to create that moment. Capturing the most important times of your life and letting you enter into them with a whole new perspective. As a videographer I am working to make that dream a reality.
